We’ve been speaking with our Regional Director for Nottingham – Nick Landa, about life before Hortons, why he joined, and what he has achieved up to now.
Prior to joining Hortons, Nick worked as a Sales & Investment Consultant at a small independent agency in Nottingham.
“I predominately looked after their sales sector and helped clients build up their portfolios across Nottinghamshire.”
Nick’s last role was a 9-5 job that mainly involved cold calling, despite this he was able to develop expert knowledge surrounding investors and developers, helping their money work harder for them.
“Now, I can be completely flexible, I can prospect at times that suit me, and generate business whenever I like.”

Nick originally applied for a job at Hortons as a Partner Agent and did so because of the company’s personal approach and its ability to move ahead of the times.
The idea that Nick would be trusted and given the opportunity to grow the brand in Nottingham was also a factor in him joining the business, he was able to buy into the vision of Founding Director, Adam Horton.
“Coming away from a secure job to start up in a region where we had no brand exposure was definitely a concern of mine.”
Despite initial concerns, Nick worked very closely with Adam to develop a plan to generate brand awareness and help establish Hortons in Nottingham. Having seen the strategy, Nick was able to commit to the process and is now reaping the rewards.
“Financially, the investment into launching in Nottingham was a huge bonus, but also the strategy that was put together to maximise its effectiveness was crucial.”

When Nick first joined Hortons there were already several Partner Agents within the company that shared the same ambition, they were driven to succeed personally and help achieve business objectives.
The first 6 months were definitely challenging for Nick as he made the move away from a restrictive environment towards a more flexible approach. In many ways, Nick believes that the hard work he put in within the first 6 months has acted as the foundation to turn the vision into reality.
“I concluded on my first sale after 4 months in the role.”
“Then after several months of pushing boundaries, I was instructed to sell an incredible family home for just under £3 million, along with several other listings of around £1 million.”

During his time with Hortons, Nick has quickly developed as a professional, evident in becoming Regional Director within just 2 years.
“Working with an array of clientele has helped me to grow as both a person and a professional. One moment I could be working with a client selling a £60,000 flat and the next I could be selling an exclusive multi-million pound property, and I love that.”
The challenge to deliver exceptional customer service to all types of clients is something that Nick has not only embraced, but excelled at.

In terms of the future, the plan is to continue to grow the team across Nottingham, become market leaders, and change the perception and stigma associated with estate agency.
When asked what advice he would give to somebody considering joining Hortons, Nick replied:
“If you want to be challenged, grow as an individual and be presented with exceptional opportunities then Hortons is the place for you. Becoming self employed allows you to develop not only professional skills, but also your personal resilience, opportunism and financial prospects.”
